Che ers mate. I was expecting to only get the exterior done today and finish her off tomorrow, but the paint is so soft, only took two and bit hours to hand polish, then the rest was wheels, engine, dressing and buff.

Those tires look old maybe even original.

They are a little worn but certainly not original.

Looking at it’s MOT history the oldest they are likely to be is from August 2011.

I remember when the first generation came out - all of a sudden, every 3rd vehicle in the school drop off line was an RX. Toyota must have paid for the development costs in suburban Philadelphia alone.

Excellent work! My RX330 is very jealous of the treatment this one just got. I have to park under a tree at my new apartment so it’s constantly filthy. I’m very much looking forward to all the leaves falling off of it. Here’s a picture from about three weeks ago when it was freshly waxed and actually clean. Not quite Svended levels of clean, though.

Also, I’m curious, how rare are RXes over there? They’re quite common here, but I’d imagine they don’t fit into the market  as well in the U.K.

As Oppo’s resident RX expert, I can confirm this. I’m 6'2" with a pretty short torso and headroom is really cutting it close. If I sit up straight, I’m about an inch from the roof. Otherwise, I think l egroom is fine front and back, and even the headroom in the backsea t is fine. T he sunroof robs a pretty decent amount of headroom up front, though.

If you can fit your legs into the cutouts on the back of the seats, I think they’re pretty comfy. If not, I’m sure they wouldn’t be very pleasant. I’m very close to not  fitting my knees under the top of those cutouts too. They at least recline too, but that’s not gonna do much for legs haha.

Thanks. It took a lot less time than I thought it would take thankfully.

They became quite common early on in some areas but not in my county. It's very rural and mostly small hatchbacks, estates and traditional off readers, these things were more for city dwellers.

That’s always a great feeling. That’s interesting. It definitely sounds similar to the U.S. Most people that drive these here are in the city or suburbs, too, m y family included.

They cost quite a bit more than other cars of it’s size when they came out so it was city people showing cash and how they were saving the world, etc...

Now you can get a car like this, a 2007 RX400h, on Autotrader for £4,000.
